There are incredible stories to discover about our coastal species so if the tantalising glimpses you’ve caught of this semi-aquatic environment between the tides has left you curious to learn more the RSPB Handbook of the Seashore is for you.

Learn how to read tide tables, look for species, plan trips at the best times – spring or low tides are the most rewarding, report unusual sightings and a little about conservation.

With more than 6,000km of UK shoreline there is vast potential for discovery.
