Staff from Derriford Hospital’s Renal Unit will be holding an open day on Tuesday 20th January, at the Derriford Health and Leisure Centre, between 10am-4pm.

The open day is for nurses and health care workers to drop in and find out more about renal patients and how to manage them.

There will be opportunities to learn about kidney transplants, living donation, chronic kidney disease and various types of dialysis. Senior nurses of the renal team and a recruitment officer will be available to discuss options if you are interested in a career within this exciting and expanding unit.

Nadine Ash, Senior Sister on Mayflower Ward said: “This is a great opportunity for nurses, student nurses and community teams to find out what renal nursing entails and what knowledge and skills can be developed.

“It will give a chance for potential employees to interact with members of the team and understand what it is like to work within the South West Transplant Unit, where we can provide an insight into what professional development can be offered.”
