Over 40 immunology and allergy nurses from as far and wide as Aberdeen, Cardiff, London, Manchester and Dublin attended the annual Nurses Group conference hosted by staff from the Eden Unit at Derriford Hospital this month.

The event enabled colleagues to share best practice through group discussions, nurse-led patient clinics and provided an opportunity to learn new developments in treatment. Guest speakers included Professor Edward Kaminski and Dr Claire Bethune, Consultant Immunologist at Derriford Hospital.

Staff from the Eden Unit also presented a series of talks on the recent developments in treatment for patients who are diagnosed with Hereditary Angioedema (HAE) as well as plans to extend the service in Plymouth.

Clinical Nurses Specialists Jane Gilliam said: “The event was a huge success and the feedback we have had from delegates who attended has been extremely positive.

“The event is always a good opportunity to network with colleagues across the field as well as share best practice and learning.”

The event, run by Immunology and Allergy Nurses from the Eden Unit at Derriford Hospital, was held at St Mellion International Resort on 13 and 14 May 2013.
