Retail Gold at the Food & Drink Devon Awards

‘The Food Shop’ at The Shops at Dartington is celebrating having picked up the accolade of ‘Best Retailer’ at the recent Food & Drink Devon Awards held at the spectacular Deer Park Country House Hotel. The Food & Drink Devon Awards acknowledge the finest producers, hospitality establishments and retailers across the county, with The Shops at Dartington fighting off stiff competition from 13 others to win the coveted ‘Best Retailer’ Award.

Commenting on the recent win, Barbara King, managing director of The Shops at Dartington says: “The whole team at The Shops at Dartington is delighted to have won this award. We are very proud in ‘The Food Shop’ to stock over 60 per cent of our produce from Devon and over 87 per cent of produce from the West Country. In all our shops we strive to showcase the very best produce from both the local region as well as the wider West Country, for our commitment and passion to have been recognised in this way is fantastic.”

Barbara continues: “In 2014 we relocated and tripled the size of ‘The Food Shop’ and haven’t looked back since, to receive this award two years later is hugely satisfying. It was also such a privilege to collect the award from Nigel Barden who does so much to promote British artisan producers.”

A group of 14 shops and cafes, located in a beautiful rural setting in a range of what were once farm buildings, The Shops at Dartington is owned by the Dartington Hall Trust an independent charitable organisation, trading ethically and sustainably as a social enterprise in order to help support the Trust’s activities in social justice, sustainability and the arts. With a unique selection of shops to explore, hours can be spent browsing the exquisite craft and pottery collections, stylish women’s and men’s accessories, homeware and unusual gifts as well as ‘Devon Drinks’ and ‘The Food Shop’.
