Julie Williams from Plympton, Plymouth was one of six lucky winners in a recent competition run by Australian wine maker, McGuigan Wines. Julie and her brother Martin won the chance to spend a day in London taking part in a cookery master class with celebrity chef and Masterchef presenter, John Torode.

The winners gathered at cookery school, L’Atelier des Chefs in central London, where they tried their hand at making a selection of John’s recipes including salt and pepper squid, mustard crusted beef and a delicious pavlova.

After a morning of hard work they were rewarded with a tasting of their food paired with a selection of McGuigan wines, which were presented to them by chief winemaker, Neil McGuigan, who was fresh over from Australia.

Neil McGuigan, chief winemaker at McGuigan said, “It was a pleasure to be here for the competition winners' day and meet Julie and Martin – they did a great job working with John and the food they produced was delicious!

"We sampled six McGuigan wines with the three courses, which were really tasty.  I know Julie will be ready to impress her friends now with the same dishes when she gets home!”
