Book lovers will have a chance to get up close and personal with one of Plymouth’s most successful authors on Tuesday 30 June.

Susmita Bhatthacharya will be giving a free talk on her writing and her journey to becoming a published writer at Plymouth’s Central Library.

Susmita’s novel The Normal State of Mind was published in March this year. Described as “a deliciously bold debut novel” and “a beautiful, evocative read” it’s the story of two women, one gay and one straight, struggling to find their identity in 1990s India.

The evening starts at 7pm and as well as Susmita’s talk there will be refreshments available and a chance to buy a copy of the book signed by the author.

Deputy Council Leader Peter Smith said: “We’re really lucky that a talented author like Susmita has agreed to give up her time to talk about her journey to becoming a published writer. Hopefully listening to her story may encourage more budding wordsmiths to give it a go.”

People are advised to book in advance by calling into their local library or visiting www.plymouthlibraryevents.eventbrite.co.uk.
