Once again, thousands of people are expected to visit the Guild Hall, this weekend for, ‘The South West’s Biggest SCI-FI TOY & COMIC FAIR,’ both Saturday and Sunday (October 15 and 16) from 9am to 5pm.

Following the huge success of their previous conventions, which have been running since 2013, Organiser, Lea Shelford from EVENTS FRONTIER, shared, that the excitement and enthusiasm from both Families and Sci-Fi fans, is higher than ever for this particular event and this looks set to be their biggest to date, with people travelling from all over the Country and as far afield as the States.

DEV CON will offer its visitors a chance to meet and talk to their Star Idols, from the International Screens, Actors from hugely popular TV Series, as well as highly acclaimed Comic Artists. Previous Events have boasted a fabulous Guest List, that has never disappointed and Manager Lea is confident that next weekend will be no different, with Actors from MAD MAX, FARSCAPE - Virginia Hey, STAR WARS – Paul Warren, as well as a chance to meet and have your photo taken with characters such as Chewbacca, Stormtroopers & Obi Wan Kenobi to name but a few.  Dr Who Fans will be delighted at the chance to meet the Doctors Companions, Louise Jameson, Katy Manning, two Daleks from the Original Set and even K9 the robot dog, will be there, well the voice of K9 anyway.

We invite everyone to come along and take part in the 1st Heat of the South West Cosplay /Fancy Dress Championships and help raise funds for ‘Families For Children Charity’.

This event, welcomes All Gaming Enthusiast, as DEV CON adds HTC VIVE and more to its list of activities, as well as group play Minecraft, which brought a great big smile to so many young faces at our last Event. There will be lots of new Traders, as well the ever popular regulars, both of whom, will be selling an amazing range of goods, such as Toys, Comics, Fashion, Home-wear, Film & TV Memorabilia from across the decades.  Other features include Special Effects Make up Displays and Demonstrations, Face/Body Painting, by a BBC professional & so very much more. All in all there is something for a vast variety of taste and interest that will appeal, to children and adults of all ages alike.

EVENTS FRONTIER's motto is ‘Promoting Learning, Reading and Imagination through the medium of Comics, Novels, Film and Fantasy.  There ethos is all about ‘Creating Smiles’ and that’s exactly what they plan to do at each and every Event.

Manager from Final Frontier Comic Stores, Julian said “It’s so great, at last Plymouth and the South West have their own conventions on the map, organised by their own local people. Fans and families will now be able to enjoy a fantastic couple of days, without having to pay a fortune or travel miles.  EVENTS FRONTIER has a highly successful reputation for organising these types of events and each one just gets better. Together we hope that this next one will be equally as popular and once again prove to be a huge attraction to Plymouth and help to bring people to our fabulous City.

Plymouth City Centre Manager Jon Walton said: “Dev Con is growing in reputation and is starting to attract collectors and fans from as far away as America; we are delighted to support it!

“We can’t think of a better place to host an event like this. With British Land’s new 12-theatre cinema complex and 18-metre high IMAX screen in the pipeline, Plymouth will be the South West’s hottest ticket for movie fans.

“Chewbacca and two Daleks (who always scared me when I was young) will give visitors to Dev Con some great selfies and there’s the chance to collect unique and original memorabilia from your favourite films and programmes.

“This event is going from strength to strength. With Hollywood blockbusters like Tim Burton’s Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children and the BBC’s hit Poldark being shot here in the beautiful South West, it can only get bigger and better.”
