Ridgeway School in Plympton has seen a significant increase in its GCSE results as shown by the official ‘Department for Education Secondary School League Tables’ published on Thursday 21 January.

54 per cent of Ridgeway School pupils achieved five A*-C including English and maths – an increase of 10 per cent on last year’s figures.

Ridgeway School Principal, Lisa Boorman said: "I am delighted with these DfE figures, and the progression routes that are now open to our students.

“These results show a significant increase against last year’s figures and I am confident that we will continue to build on this success.

"I’d like to thank the staff, and the students for their hard work and to the families who support our students - achievement really is a team effort.”

The Government’s league tables are published once a year and are an important tool for parents and organisations when comparing schools in their area.

Lisa Boorman took over as Principal in January 2016. The school is set to have a new name, uniform and logo for the start of the September academic term.

Lisa added: “The school is proud to be part of the Plympton community, and from September we will be known as The Plympton Academy – with the new name comes the opportunity for students to choose a new uniform, and children from our wider community to get involved in creating a new logo for us.”
