There was lots of Christmas spirit at Ridgeway School recently when students wore Christmas jumpers to school to raise money for local charities.

Each student who took part in the Christmas Jumper Day donated £1 towards the Junior Leadership Teams chosen charities. They raised £354.15.

The chosen charities are:

· Year 7: Snowdrop Appeal to support parents of stillborn babies
· Year 8: Woodside Animal Welfare Trust
· Year 9 & 11 Cancer Research
· Year 10: Help for Heroes
· Staff & Year 12 and Year 13 Save the Children

“This is the first year we have asked the year groups to select their own charities and for most there is a connection with them,” said Lisa Boorman, principal designate. “I feel that the students buy in much more to the event if they get the chance to select the charities themselves and it’s great to see so many different charities being supported.”
