Staddon Heights Golf Club have shown their support to the Snowdrop Appeal with a generous donation of £4,500.

The Snowdrop Appeal is a charity set up to raise funds for a new specialist facility at Derriford Hospital to provide a peaceful space for bereaved parents of still birth, miscarriage and early baby loss.

The Snowdrop Appeal became the club’s chosen charity for the 2013 season, after close friends of club captain Brian West suffered a personal tragedy. Staddon Heights members competed in a club charity day which also included sweepstakes, cake sales and a raffle, with additional individual donations from club members adding to the overall total.

Greg Phillips of the Snowdrop Appeal said: “The money raised by Staddon Heights will have a hugely positive impact on so many other families in the tragic time of the losing of their baby, at a time when they were expecting to be celebrating.”

The donation will be used to purchase various new items for the current area being used by parents, including a new sofa bed to allow dads to stay with their partners overnight, a fridge to keep refreshments and a new toaster, to try and provide a comfortable environment during an unexpected stay.
