Otter Garden Centre’s Plymouth branch has handed over a cheque for £3440 to local charity The Primrose Foundation.

The funds were raised during 2023 from a combination of collecting tins at the tills, donations for instore animations which included a T-Rex and Christmas donkeys, and staff raffles.

The Primrose Foundation is a well-established local breast care charity based at the Primrose Breast Care Centre in University Hospitals Plymouth. Otter Plymouth chose Primrose as charity of the year as several team members have received treatment at the centre, so it is close to their hearts.

Fundraising Coordinator, Madeleine Matthews said: “I’d like to thank all the staff members who went above and beyond to help raise these funds as well as the many customers that donated in 2023. Donations like this enable us to continue to support your local breast care services and the many families affected by breast cancer.”

All donations received help to ensure the best possible breast care services are provided to patients and their families across West Devon and East Cornwall, fund dedicated Clinical support for patients, provide state-of-the-art technology and facilities, support staff by offering training bursaries for education, research, and development as well as allow a patient’s experience to be as comfortable as possible.

“As medicine advances and technology improves our ‘wish list’ is ever-growing, and our aim continues to be able to offer patients the best possible care and support when it is needed most,” added Madeleine.

Matt Burn from Otter Plymouth who was central to the fundraising effort, said: “We’re grateful to our customers and all our team members whose generosity helped us to reach this total.

“Local charities like The Primrose Foundation really do rely on support from local businesses, and we’re delighted to be able to help.”
