A brand new charity Christmas single released by Rotarians in South West England is set to take on the X Factor winners song in the hunt for the coveted Christmas No 1 single after storming into Amazon’s Top 10 ‘hot new releases MP3 chart’ since being released on Monday.

The song – Christmas Time (Children Sing) – is sung by Cornish singer and TV presenter Shane Solomon and has been released to raise funds for the Rotary Foundation.

Christmas Time (Children Sing) is the ultimate feel good festive ballad and Rotarians are hoping to harness the support of the British (and in particular Cornish) public and get the charity single to the top of the charts in time for Christmas.  Rotary International of Great Britain and Ireland are also calling on their 53,000 strong membership to get behind the single and raise the profile of the fantastic work the organisation and its members do both locally and abroad.

Rotarian Stephen Lay, who launched the single said: “We are asking people to click to save a life, click to change a life and click to give hope to those millions affected by disaster, conflict, disease or poverty.

“All profits will go to The Rotary Foundation, and every penny raised goes to supporting humanitarian work around the world. Rotarians have seen first hand the devastating effect of disasters, conflict and poverty, most recently in the Philippines and the on-going refugee crisis in Syria. These events remind us of the vital need for sustainable solutions that can be delivered through the support of The Rotary Foundation.”

The feel good anthem aims to make people stop and think about those less fortunate than themselves and features school children from around the world and clips of Rotary’s humanitarian work.

Rotary International President Ron Burton, who is backing the single said: “Rotarians across the globe are working to save lives, change lives and to give hope to eradicate polio and those recently affected by disaster or conflict. Please click to download the song and click to share it amongst your network of contacts. It is that simple, together we can change lives.”

Shane Solomon, who created the song and video commented: “I’ve been working with Rotary for a few years, and am amazed by the huge amount of humanitarian work they do at home and abroad. It just seemed right that we do this for Rotary and their global charity, The Rotary Foundation.”
