Tax specialist Annette Stone has joined the Plymouth office of Thomas Westcott Chartered Accountants.

In her new role Annette, who previously worked at "Big Four" accountancy firm Ernst & Young as well as at a smaller independent practice in London and at Mark Holt and Co Limited in Plymouth, will help Thomas Westcott's private and business clients with their tax planning and compliance.

Annette, who studied international business at Plymouth University and Amsterdam's School of Economics, is also a qualified STEP member and can provide specialist advice to clients on inheritance tax and trusts.

She said: "Over the years I have been involved in helping many individuals and businesses remain compliant with the UK's increasingly complex tax legislation, with particular experience representing clients during the course of HMRC investigations, and look forward to bringing that expertise and experience to my new role at Thomas Westcott."

She added: "From the outside you can see that Thomas Westcott is a fast-growing, hugely ambitious practice and it's extremely exciting for me to now be part of the team here."

Thomas Westcott Tax Partner, Michael Marsh, said of Annette's appointment: "Now, more than ever, it is vital for taxpayers and business owners to be fully aware of their fiscal responsibilities or risk falling foul of HMRC, and Annette's many years of experience will be a huge benefit to our clients in their efforts to remain compliant."

Michael added: "Our ability to recruit ambitious, high calibre people like Annette underlines the firm's commitment to delivering the very best quality services to businesses and individuals alike."
