Young people in Plymouth can now sign up to fun, free and exciting activities this summer as part of the popular Summer Mix programme.

From 1 to 26 August, Plymouth City Council’s Youth Services Team is offering young people in the city hundreds of fantastic, free activities to liven up their summer.

Summer Mix is open to any young person living in Plymouth aged 11 to 19 (up to 25 for those with a disability) and opportunities range from totally different experiences like bubble football, Come Dine With Me and Bushcraft, to really practical courses aimed at getting  a step into employment like, accredited Playwork, NPLQ lifeguarding, Level 2 Food Safety in Catering and accredited Paediatric and Emergency first aid.

Cabinet Member for Children and Young people, Councillor Terri Beer said: “I’m really excited that Summer Mix is back this year and the range of courses available this year is amazing, so I’m quite sure there will be something for everyone.”

Not only are there are huge range of courses available, youth centres in Estover, Honicknowle, Southway and Efford will be open throughout the whole of August providing a range of community fun days and other activities for young people.

Summer Mix  is organised and funded by Plymouth City Council’s Youth Services, and supported by a variety of other organisations. Plymouth City Council’s Sports Development Unit are providing a fantastic programme of free sporting activities from family activities to climbing, basketball, street games and much more.

Councillor Beer continued: “This year’s Summer Mix is a real community project and I’m really pleased that we have been able to support a number of local organisations to provide these activities for our young people.”

Courses and activities will be assigned on a first come first served basis, so young people wanting to put their name down for their favourite course are being encouraged to enrol as early as possible. Booking forms will be available from the 24 June and registration and booking begins on 27 June .
