Call for entries for SW Built Environment Awards 2016

The South West Built Environment Awards is to take place for the 9th year running on Friday 20th May 2016. In the form of a high-profile dinner, the evening will serve as an opportunity for your achievements and projects to be applauded alongside the best in the region.

More than 450 leaders and innovators from across the construction sector will gather at the Bristol Marriott Hotel City Centre to celebrate the very best industry projects.
The Awards are recognised as being in a class of its own, celebrating best practice combined with great entertainment and networking. With event partners including RIBA, ICE and HCA, this extremely popular event will be attended by representatives across local and regional companies together with senior figures from within the industry.

Entries will be judged by an expert panel, including representatives from; RIBA, ICE, HCA, IStructE, CIOB, FBE, WIP, CITB, CECA, HSE, LABC, CIC, NHBC and NHF.

The South West Built Environment Awards are unmissable; winning this regional competition automatically qualifies you for the National Constructing Excellence Awards.

Award Categories

Entrants will be judged on their achievements or performance from any time between the start of 2014 up until 26th February 2016. Enter any of the below categories are no cost:

  • Achiever of the Year -This Award recognises outstanding performance or influence by an individual who has been inspirational in the opinion of the sector peer group during 2015.
  • BIM Project of the Year -This category is looking for companies or projects that are using BIM (Building Information Modelling) to dramatically improve the design, delivery and operation of buildings.
  • Client of the Year -Judges are looking for a construction client that has shown clear consistent leadership and commitment to core Constructing Excellence principles on one or preferably several projects.
  • Health & Safety Award -The judges were looking for a project or organisation where health and safety h-as been driven way beyond what is required within the duties as stated in CDM2007.
  • Heritage Award -Judges will be looking to recognise the achievement of high standards in the repair, re-use and revitalisation of the region's historic buildings, sites and places.
  • Image of Construction Award -This Award looks to recognise a project that has resulted in inclusive and barrier-free construction using equality and diversity design principles while embedding inclusive practices into every day site working.
  • Innovation Award -Judges will be looking for the best organisation or project that took the most innovative approach to overcome site or project specific challenges.
  • Integration & Collaborative Working -Judges will be looking for evidence of early involvement, selection by value, common processes and tools across organisations such as BIM, long term relationships, modern commercial arrangements and fair payment practices.
  • Leadership & People Development -The winner in this category will best define and demonstrate improvements resulting from targeted leadership development and training across the workforce and perhaps local community.
  • Project of the Year -There will be two winners for this category: Building and Infrastructure. Judges are looking for an outstanding project that best demonstrates the highest levels of technical achievement, innovation, application of best practice, teamworking throughout the supply chain, delivered to time, budget and quality with the highest health & safety standards.
  • SME of the Year -This Award specifically recognises the challenges and outstanding achievements of Small to Medium Enterprises, particularly those who have made strides in improving their company through implementing best practice.
  • Sustainability Award -The judges will be looking for a project or organisation where the principles of sustainability have been fully embedded, particularly those that demonstrate creative and/or innovative thinking and leadership.
  • Value Award -The judges will be looking for either a project on which long-term value has been best achieved, or an organisation that has achieved value on a number of projects over a period of time.
  • Young Achiever of the Year -This award looks to recognise a young achiever in our industry. The judges are looking for the person that has best demonstrated a positive impact against the current G4C (Generation for Change) priority areas of people, sustainability and asset outcomes.
