A 44 year old man from Plymouth received serious facial injuries including a suspected fractured eye socket, and was taken to hospital by ambulance.

Two men were arrested at the scene, one on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and the other on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm. They have been released on police bail until 5th September 2016 while police complete enquiries.

Detective Constable Morgan Emery said: “This was a nasty assault, and there were a number of people in the street when officers arrived.

“We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the assault. We are particularly keen to talk to a white female with dark hair in a pony tail, and who was wearing a patterned blouse, and would be very grateful if she could come forward.”
