Women in Business event sells out in less than 24 hours

TICKETS for the second free Plymouth Women in Business Networking group which is due to be held in the first week of March have sold out in less than 24 hours.

120 tickets for the lunchtime event next month at The Treasury Bar in the city were booked up less than a day after they were offered online. A waiting list has been set up and is already filling up.

The lunchtime event was organised by Alexis Bowater of Bowater Communications and Clare Geraghty, Premier Banking Manger at Barclays, to bring businesswomen together, network and to provide peer-to-peer support and inspiration.

The inaugural meeting, which was held on Monday 1st February, sold out in advance and was attended by businesswomen from all walks of life representing businesses from startups to multi-million pound established city businesses.

An inspirational speaker is booked for every event and next month will be Annie Broadbent, the organisational development manager at St Luke's Hospice in Plymouth, who also leads the Plymouth branch of Parliament 5050 - which is a cross-party campaigning group to ensure that men and women legislate our laws in equal numbers.

Alexis Bowater, who co-founded the network, said: “We are thrilled with the response to this women in business networking group. We have been inundated with requests to join and also offers of support. Our number one priority is to give women the chance to network and discover help, advice, peer-to-peer support and inspiration that will help them grow their businesses.

“We are delighted to be offering this service for free - and the response to it indicates most emphatically that there is a need for it. We are looking to offer some free workshops as well which businesses have been offering our attendees.

“Our number one priority is to help businesses to grow and we are very proud to be helping to provide this kind of help and support for free.”

An event is due to take place every month on the first Monday of the month at lunchtime and will include a talk from an inspirational speaker.

Tickets are already available for the April meeting and links and further information about the inspirational speaker will be posted expeditiously on the group’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
