Live tool demonstrations, hog roast and prize draw are among the activities taking place at a special event to celebrate the opening of two of Plymouth's leading trade brands' new premises.

Specialist supplier of tools and equipment to general light industrial businesses, Parkins, and sister company, agricultural and ground care vehicle experts MST, have moved into a new facility on the Lee Mill Industrial Estate - a location twice the size of their previous premises.

In addition to increased headcount and a wider than ever range of top brand tools and equipment from Parkins, the new building boasts a showroom for MST's specialist land vehicles including full servicing facilities.

"We've seen tremendous growth in recent years and the time was right to expand our operations here at Lee Mill and deliver a greater than ever service for our valued customers," said Nigel Godefroy, director at MST & Parkins' parent company, Longhouse.

"This significant investment into our operations here not only meets rising demand for our products and services but is also, we believe, a real statement of intent demonstrating our commitment to the area and our ever increasing customer base," he added.

For half a century Parkins has been Devon's go to supplier for businesses in the engineering, welding and construction trades looking for leading brand-name products including Bosch, Makita, DeWalt, Hitachi and Stanley.

MST, which can trace its roots in the South West back to the 19th Century, supplies a vast range of specialist land machinery, including agriculture, construction and horticulture vehicles from brands such as Honda, Massey Ferguson, Kubota, Stihl and Husqvarna.

Gavin Andrews, general manager at the new Lee Mill site, said: "Our offering of top quality brands and this new, modern facility, together with our experienced team of experts with in-depth knowledge of the local trade and agriculture markets, offers a comprehensive and professional service."

He added: "We're excited to be part of this thriving business and want to see as many customers, both existing and new, join us at this event and be part of the celebration."

The open day to mark MST and Parkins' move into their new premises takes place on Tuesday, February 23, from 1pm to 9pm.
