New Year's Honours for people of Devon

A whole host of inspiring people from Devon are to be rewarded with New Year's Honours.

Those from the County to be recognised include:

MBE (Member of the British Empire)

Betty and John Insley are set to receive MBE's for their services to children and families.
John Michael Christopher Duffield has been recognised for services to sailing following his role as president of the Plymouth and Devon Schools Sailing Association.
Ms Tracey Louise Green, from Yelverton, will be recognised for her services to children and families.
Environmental campaigner Rosemary Day from Bideford, for voluntary service to the environment and to the community in North Devon.
Plymouth and Devon Schools' Sailing Association President John Duffield, from Plymouth, for services to sailing.
Former Friends of Devon's Archives chairman Dr Claude Gray, from Exeter, for services to heritage in Devon.
Catherine Lester-Walker, from Bideford, for services to former military personnel as part of her work with the National Armed Forces charity SSAFA.
Foster carers John and Mary Richardson, from Exmouth, for services to children and families.

CBE (Commander of the Order)

Dr Paula Marie Vasco-Knight, who previously worked at Plymouth’s Derriford Hospital, has also made the 2014 Honours List.

OBE (Officer of the British Empire)

Dr Anne Roberts, From Exeter, for service to occupational therapy as associate professor and senior lecturer at the University of Plymouth.
Gerald Arthur Sturtridge, from Exeter, for voluntary services to the community in Devon.
Nicholas Robert Febbrarro, a Grade 7 at the Ministry of Defence, will be awarded for services to the Royal Navy in Plymouth.
Dr Anne Elizabeth Kerslake Roberts, an associate professor and senior lecturer in occupational therapy at Plymouth University, will be celebrated for her services to occupational therapy.

BEM ( British Empire Medal)

Brian Albert Fyfield-Shayler will be recognised for services to the community in Tavistock.
Martin John Weiler, the Devon and Cornwall area manager for the Environment Agency, will be recognised for services to the community in the South West. 
Mary Ford, from Barnstaple, for services to the elderly and homeless.
Kathleen Moyle, from East Budleigh, for services to the restoration of Salem Chapel.
Barbara Dearden-Potter, from Seaton, for services to the community.
Brian Fyfield-Shayler, from Tavistock, for services to the community.
Marjorie Smith, from Exeter, for services to the community in Drewsteignton.
Martin Weiler, Environment Agency area manager for Devon and Cornwall, for services to the community in the South West.

Queen’s Fire Service Medal
Lee Howell, the chief fire officer at the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service, will also be acknowledged.

DBE (Dame Commander of the British Empire)
Dr Paula Marie Vasco-Knight, from Okehampton, for services to the NHS as chief executive of South Devon Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
