Argyle secure back-to-back victories at Southend

Southend United 0 Plymouth Argyle 2

League Two, Tuesday 19th March

Plymouth Argyle continued to show form and a readiness for the relegation battle with an away victory at Southend last night.

Two second half goals - a second penalty in as many games from Paul Wotton and Reuben Reid's first ever goal for the Pilgrims - secured three points.

Southend, upcoming Wembley finalists in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, sit just outside the play-off places so provided tough opponents, but Argyle showed good attacking instincts, deserved with moments of pressure well and deserved the win.

It remains tight at the bottom of League Two however, with some of Plymouth's nearest opponents also winning last night. Four teams, including Argyle and local rivals Torquay, have 43 points, just two clear of the relegation zone. So supporters will be hoping for a continuation of John Sheridans side's upward form at Chesterfield on Saturday.
