Music: Voice(s)

Juliet Fraser, soprano

Christopher Fox: Magnification
Scott Mc Laughlin: Snowflake
Michael Finnissy: Same as we
Nicholas Peters: Scantlebury

Juliet Fraser performs Voice(s), a programme for soprano and electronics that exploits the technology of pre-recorded tape parts and live manipulation to explore the interior worlds of memory, dreamings and identity. The central piece of the programme is Nicholas Peters' Scantlebury which sets his Grandad's spoken reminiscences of all the characters in his family, who were from Devonport, Plymouth, to music (?).

The development of the Voice(s) project has been supported by Arts Council England, the PRS Music Foundation, the Hinrichsen Foundation and the Ralph Vaughan Williams Trust.

This performance is linked to Celestial (add hyperlink to event page) and Relic (add hyperlink to event page) music performances by the theme of memories. Memories of loved ones and memories passed on by and to loved ones. The pieces express through the multi-disciplinary genres of music, words, film and sound the spirit, imagination and emotions of family bonds, secrets and histories.
