Celestial is a moving and uplifting collage of songs, words and projections created by composer, Paul K Joyce. This new work is inspired by the childhood poems of Johnnie Douglas-Pennant, many of which show him struggling to come to terms with the loss of his sister, Anna.
Celestial features singers, orchestra, synthesizers and natural sounds. Projections are by renowned filmmaker, Graham Gaunt. Poems of Johnnie Douglas-Pennant used by kind permission of his family.
This performance is linked to Voice(s) (add hyperlink to event page) and Relic (add hyperlink to event page) music performances by the theme of memories. Memories of loved ones and memories passed on by and to loved ones. The pieces express through the multi-disciplinary genres of music, words, film and sound the spirit, imagination and emotions of family bonds, secrets and histories.
