Silence Between Waves, Richard Chappell Dance

Silence Between Waves is a film performed by a cast of three exceptional Singaporean dancers shot on Torbay's scenic Berry Head.

Taking inspiration from the headland's views and environment and with a soundscape featuring recorded local stories by Torbay's Sound Communities, Silence Between Waves frames a conversation through movement and sound, connecting two countries and places across the sea by reflecting on home and far away. This film features a powerful international ensemble as a metaphor for how our oceans and dance share worldwide connectivity and sentiment.

Commissioned by Torbay Culture and Eyeview and co-produced by Dance in Devon. Funded by Arts Council England and the National Arts Council of Singapore and supported by Nanyang Academy, Dartington Hall and Exeter Phoenix.
