Pedestrian killed by lorry on A38

Motorists were facing severe delays this lunchtime after a pedestrian was killed on the A38.

Emergency services are currently at the scene of a fatal collision at South Brent.

The collision between a male pedestrian and a DAF HGV happened on the northbound carriageway near to the Shell Carew garage around 11am today [20 May].

Ashbourne Woods in South Brent has been named by as its top-selling site for Devon for 2015.

The figures, compiled from’s bookings for 1,605 camping and caravan sites throughout Europe, show Ashbourne Woods led the way for visitors to Devon in 2015, bringing an impressive 749 bookings to the region, 9% ahead of its nearest competitor in the county.

Cash machine fire caused by oxy acetylene torch

Fire crews were called to extinguish a fire involving a cash machine at Carew Service Station in South Brent in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Dog owners asked to keep their animals under control after a sheep attack

Police in South Devon are reminding dog owners of the need to keep their animals under control following an attack on sheep in the Bala Brook area of South Brent in February 2013.

Police enquiries have yet to identify the white Jack Russell and a small brown Poodle/Terrier type dog that were chased off during the incident on 7 February. The sheep suffered minor injuries. A spokesperson...
