Family workshop: Memory Books With Let’s Make Art

Join Let's Make Art in making a personalised memory book to collect everyday treasure in. Each family will be guided in making a book complete with an image of its owner.

We'll be exploring the ways people archive their everyday lives and drawing inspiration from the exhibition in the gallery, Collected Shadows: The Archive of Modern Conflict.

Let's Make Art organise high-quality events and provide a wide variety of well-resourced art workshops that are enjoyed by all ages and abilities.

Exhibition: Collected Shadows

This exhibition of 200 photographs is drawn from the extensive collection of the Archive of Modern Conflict (AMC). The AMC was first established 25 years ago as a repository for vernacular photography and ephemera relating to the First and Second World Wars. It has since grown to a total of eight million images encompassing a plethora of subject matter – not solely defined by war and conflict – collected from diverse sources all over the world.

There will be an informal performance at 17:30 with a retiring collection for Brain Tumour Research.

Plymouth University Orchestra Summer Concert

Directed by Jonathan Hurdle and Jamie Dove

Plymouth University Orchestra will perform a selection of orchestral works prepared during the term with additional pieces for strings, wind and brass ensembles.

The Orchestra comprises of students, staff and community members and performs three concerts during the academic year.

University Of Plymouth Choral Society Summer Concert

The programme features Gabriel Fauré's Requiem, with a first half of shorter French works including Fauré's Pavane, as well as additional pieces from the choir, soloists and orchestra.

Rehearsals will begin on Tuesday 13 March – the perfect opportunity for beginners to try out a choir, without audition, singing one of the world’s most popular and beautiful choral pieces.

Talk: Water From The Moor: Plymouth’s Water Supply

As a keen local historian, Paul Rendell – a Dartmoor National Park Guide for many years –has written many articles for newspapers, magazines and books on the Dartmoor area.

In 1991, he founded the Dartmoor News, a bi-monthly magazine that he still edits. His talk, and associated walk on Saturday 19 May, look at the history of taking water from the moors, including Burrator and Meldon Reservoirs, and Plymouth and the Devonport Leats.
