Ofcom introduces clearer call charges

Millions of telephone users in the South West will benefit from clearer call charges being introduced next month by the telecoms regulator Ofcom.

From 1 July, landline and mobile charges will become clearer for calls to numbers starting 084, 087, 09 and 118, while Freephone will become free from mobiles.

The broadcasting watchdog Ofcom will begin a regular audit of the quality of TV broadcasters’ subtitles from next year, to help improve the service for deaf and hard-of-hearing viewers.

Plymouth may soon get a local television channel according to regulator Ofcom.

Locations across the UK including Plymouth and Barnstaple, are slated to gain independent channels making original programming.
