Independent developer announces preview weekend At new development was a success

C G Fry & Son Ltd., based near Dorchester, launched its new ‘Grey’s Field’ development, Chickerell with a preview weekend at Easter. The release of the first phase of 12 plots was a resounding success for the award-winning independent developer, with three homes reserved by first time buyers using the ‘Help to Buy’ scheme.

The *‘Help to Buy’ Equity Loan scheme (*see Notes to Editor) helps first time buyers and those looking to move up the property ladder to purchase a new-build home. The government-backed initiative was set up to help new and existing home owners to purchase a property with as little as a 5% deposit.

In the first 23 months to 28 February 2015, nearly 50,000 were bought with the support of the Help to Buy equity loan scheme with the majority of sales To date the ‘Help to Buy’ scheme has helped around 50,000 people to buy a new home with the majority of sales to first-time buyers representing 82% of total sales.

The new development is located within walking distance of the picturesque village centre of Chickerell with shops and local amenities including a Doctors Surgery and public house as well as a library.
