Wotton signs one year extension with Argyle

The veteran midfielder Paul Wotton has signed a one year extension to his contract at Plymouth Argyle.

It's a reward for the experienced 35-year-old who played a crucial part in the Pilgrims' relegation battle last season and will now combine his on-field skills with an off-field coaching role.

Wotton will take the additional role of Senior Professional Development Coach with the club's youth academy where his years of experience as a professional should serve him well. He will also be hoping to add significantly to his tally of 475 games for Plymouth, placing him third in the club's all-time appearances list.

He made his debut in 1995 and spent 14 years at Argyle before being released. He returned to the club in January 2012.

Wotton told the Plymouth Argule website: “I’m really enjoying my football; I’m still enjoying my training; and I’m really happy.

“The important thing is that the body feels really, really good.

“The coaching will fit in around the playing, not the other way around, although I’m excited by both.”
