With global excitement building ahead of Rugby World Cup 2015, Tournament Organisers, England Rugby 2015, have unveiled the official design that will feature on the tickets for the 48 matches.

The five variations that have been officially unveiled celebrate Rugby and the rich history of the Tournament, featuring the Webb Ellis Cup at its centre, alongside four Rugby World Cup winning captains: John Eales (Australia), Francois Pienaar (South Africa), Martin Johnson (England) and Richie McCaw (New Zealand) representing the nations who have been victorious at previous Rugby World Cups.

The ticket blends the striking Tournament look and feel with two Rugby images representing the heritage of the Game in England. Across the lower half of the ticket is a representation of the fans, who are at the heart of the Tournament.

For the 42,000 people lucky enough to have bought tickets for the three matches being held at the Sandy Park Stadium will receive their ticket them next month.

Once  and once received fans will have the opportunity to bring Rugby World Cup 2015 to life through the use of Blippar's Augmented Reality technology, with unique activations developed as part of the ticket design. In a first for a major sporting event, the technology will allow fans to create a 3D interactive experience through their smart phones.

By scanning any Rugby World Cup 2015 match ticket with the Blippar app, fans will be able to unlock exclusive content with England 2015 ambassadors and Rugby World Cup 2003 winners Jonny Wilkinson, Lawrence Dallaglio and Will Greenwood previewing the match fans are attending, a 360 degree view of the stadium they are going to, and from August a view from their seat and navigational tools to help them get to the match, complementing the fan-first, location-sensitive experience delivered by the official Rugby World Cup 2015 app.

For Exeter, this exciting ticket release is the mark of something much greater following 18 months of competitive bidding against rival stadiums such as Bristol and Bath.

Karime Hassan Chief Executive and Growth Director  at Exeter City Council said: “We have taken Exeter on a real journey over the last 10 years with significant growth economically and dramatically increased visitor numbers. For us a world class sporting event such as Rugby World Cup 2015 is a strong showcase that Exeter has come into its own and can succeed against bigger cities.”

In that same 10 years Rugby in Exeter has changed significantly, from the early days at the County Ground through to the growth and development of Sandy Park and the pivotal promotion to the Premiership which saw The Exeter Chiefs reach their best ever 4th place position this year.

Chairman of Sandy Park and leading Exeter business role model Tony Rowe has played a huge part in the journey, helping the Chiefs to become a leading light in world class rugby and also supporting the Rugby World Cup 2015 Bid.

Mr Rowe said: “To be able to secure the Rugby World Cup 2015 coming to Exeter we have had to increase the capacity of Sandy Park significantly. This was a huge project, but the return for the region is so much more in terms of hosting a worldwide event of the scale and in terms of the long lasting legacy this event will leave. This event is fantastic and really a once in a lifetime opportunity.”

These innovative ticket designs being released, highlight that the event is fast approaching and the  whole of Exeter need to get behind the event. Those who have tickets don’t forget to download the Blippar app on your mobile device to see your tickets come to life.
