Though the youngest artist exhibiting, Emma Pottage already has an acclaimed CV and is definitely an artist to look out for at the Torbay Art Show over the weekend of Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd March 2020.

Fresh from achieving a 1st Class BA (Hons) in Drawing and Print from the University of the West of England (UWE), Emma will be exhibiting her large colourful award-winning works of art.

Emma's beautiful acrylic and mixed media paintings are hugely influenced by the beaches and coastline of Teignmouth and the surrounding moorland.  Emma explains, "I like to play around with surfaces and different qualities of paint so the paintings themselves look as if they could have been washed up on the shore.  I try to capture the feeling of being in the landscape while also experimenting with mark, colour and texture."

Emma grew up in the Bay and attended Teignmouth Community College.  With a clear connection for Art and a natural talent, Emma then attended the Totnes Art and Design Foundation Course before heading to UWE, in Bristol, to study Drawing and Print.

During Emma's last year of University her large, bright and bold artwork was chosen for a prestigious Innis Wilkin Art in Architecture Award. This prize is awarded to an artist whose work is perfect for display in public places.

In the same year, she was awarded the Vice Chancellor's Painting Purchase Prize for high achievement in Drawing and Print.  Chosen from 50 entrants, Emma's art was bought by the University and has been added to its Private Collection of Art.

The Torbay Art Show has been organised by the Parents' Association of Torquay Boys' Grammar School, and all proceeds will go towards the refurbishment of the Sixth Form centre. The investment will see the Sixth Form take on a brighter, more spacious appearance with computer and study rooms for unsupervised learning and new café area for students to join together in an open and friendly environment.

We would like to extend our thanks to our main sponsors Cavanna Homes – building brilliance across the South West, as well as all other sponsors who have embraced our idea and supported us with their generous investments.
