On Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 November, visitors to Saltram, near Plympton, can enjoy a Christmas craft and food fair including entry into the beautifully decorated mansion, garden and chapel tearoom. Open from 10am to 4pm each day, the bumper weekend includes festive food, handmade gifts, mulled wine, roasted chestnuts, wintery walks and St Nicholas.

Last year Saltram had the most successful Christmas craft and food fair ever; and this year there will be even more to see. After visitors have shopped at over eighty stalls showcasing the very best in festive arts, crafts and West Country seasonal fare, they can wander inside the house to experience nostalgic scenes based around the theme ‘A Home for Christmas’.

A meander around the beautiful landscaped garden will earn a well-deserved warming glass of mulled wine and some roasted chestnuts; while children enjoy completing the Christmas trail and receiving a sweet treat from St Nicholas.

Fiona Macmillan, Visitor Experience Manager commented: ‘As a charity we hope that the Christmas festival will be a way for people to kick start the Christmas season while helping raise funds for the Estate’s ongoing conservation work. It is surely the tastiest start to the festive season and the perfect place to find beautiful Christmas gifts away from the high street crowds’.

Admission to the festival is free for National Trust members. Non-members pay £5 for adults, £2.50 for children and £10 for families.  For further information about the event, contact Fiona Macmillan, Visitor Experience Manager, on 01752 333504 or fiona.macmillan@nationaltrust.org.uk; or visit www.nationaltrust.org.uk/Saltram for details of all our upcoming events.
