Police appeal following RTC on M5 Motorway

Emergency services attended an injury road traffic collision on the M5 Motorway at just after 12.45pm on Friday 27 December.

A Peugeot 206 was travelling southbound when it left the carriageway and overturned into a ditch shortly after junction 27. An articulated lorry was also inovlved.

Police closed the motorway in both directions for a time to allow the air ambulance to land on the north-bound carriageway.

A land ambulance was also in attendance.

The vehicle contained four occupants. One casualty, a six-year-old child, was flown to Frenchay hospital in Bristol with a serious head injury.

Both carriageways were re-opened at just before 2.00pm with lane 1 of the south-bound carriageway remaining closed to allow the Peugeot vehicle to be recovered and for police to carry out an investigation.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident and ask that they contact police on 101 quoting police reference 0466 271213.
