Plymouth’s Half Marathon 2016 will be taking place on Sunday 17th April.

This established event is an annual fixture in the city’s calendar and 2016 will see thousands of runners take to the streets; many of whom will be raising money for charity.

Using the city’s streets for the race will cause some changes to usual traffic routes. In planning the event every effort is made to minimise the disruption caused with the closing of roads. Where closures occur, and where possible, diversions will be in place to ensure continued access around the city for motorists and public transport.

The roads that will be closed are listed below.

THE ROADS CLOSED ARE

  • Cliff Road
  • Great Western Road
  • Grand Parade
  • Madeira Road
  • The Barbican
  • Southside Street
  • Sutton Road
  • Barbican Approach

  • Embankment Lane
  • Haye Road

  • A38 / Plympton: Access from the City Centre is via Embankment Road - the bus & taxi lane restriction will be suspended and open to all traffic from 6.00am – 2.00pm. Alternatively, access Embankment Road via Lanhydrock Road or Old Laira Road

  • Plymstock: Access from Elburton Road via Springfield Road and Pomphlett roundabout

All road closures will start operating at 6am, with a dynamic re-opening schedule to ensure roads are re-opened as soon as runners have completed each section of the route. All roads will be fully re-opened by 1.00pm.

Once closures are in place, no vehicles will be permitted onto the race route until closures are lifted.

An estimated reopening schedule is as follows:

•       Cliff Road, Great Western Road & Grand Parade – 10.00am

Please allow extra time for your journey.
