GO2, organisers of Plymouth’s Half Marathon, are pleased to announce that the event has now attracted over 4,500 runners to take part in the event on Sunday 17th April! With entries being snapped up at such a fast rate, there is every likelihood of a race sell out with eight weeks still to go until race day!

Jamie Warren, Head of Marketing at GO2, said: "The interest in Plymouth’s Half Marathon has been fantastic, and we are delighted to have over 4,500 runners already signed up for the event. In previous years, we have seen around 60 percent of our runners signed up in the last six weeks of entries closing, which is a trend we often see across all of our races.

“For all of our regular runners, we would highly recommend signing up now to avoid any disappointment. And of course for all of our first timers, there is still plenty of time to get that training under your belt, and take on Plymouth’s Half Marathon in 2016!”

Now heading into its 23rd year, Plymouth’s Half Marathon is known for its scenic route and friendly atmosphere. The 13.1-mile journey will start and finish at The Hoe, with a varied course that boasts coastal views, the Barbican harbour and even the stunning National Trust grounds of Saltram Park.

To sign up for the challenge, please visit www.plymouthhalfmarathon.com to guarantee your place. If you are not fortunate enough to secure a spot in this years’ race, there will still be a number of charity entries available if you’re looking to take on the challenge to fundraise.

Kayley Waller, Regional Challenge Events Programme Manager for national charity partner, Macmillan Cancer Support, said: “Donations make up 98% of our income, so we simply couldn’t do what we do without our brilliant runners! The money raised by running for Team Macmillan at Plymouth’s Half Marathon will help make sure no one has to face cancer alone, from the moment they’re diagnosed, through treatment and beyond.”

Kiley Tellam, Events Fundraiser for local charity partner, Children’s Hospice South West, said: “We would like to encourage anyone thinking about taking part in the Plymouth’s Half Marathon to go for it, and we would love for you to support CHSW at the same time! We support many children and families from Plymouth, the surrounding areas and across the South West through our three special children’s hospices, which are a lifeline to many. Help us to make the most of short and precious lives through doing something positive this New Year and join Team CHSW!”
