Plymouth care facility recognised with prestigious award

The Kanner Project in Plymouth has been named ‘Care Home of the Year’ at the Outstanding Care Awards for Devon and Cornwall.

The Kanner Project, a Modus Care home, provides specialist residential care for up to five residents with complex needs including those with autistic spectrum disorder, learning disabilities and challenging behaviours.

The Outstanding Care Awards for Devon and Cornwall, celebrate the most dedicated individuals, providers and suppliers in the care industry across the region and it is run by the Care Network Group.

The Care Home of the Year award is presented to a care home which is able to demonstrate a shared vision and agreed goals, the leader of which is known and accepted, and who takes personal responsibility for their tasks. Its care team have an excellent communication process and each members’ skills are recognised within the team. They demonstrate a commitment to dignity and privacy for clients and also respect towards team members.

Keith Letchford, the Kanner Project’s support worker also picked up a silver award for his role as support worker of the year. The category recognises care workers who excel in their remits, delivering first class support and sharing the vision of the home.

On receiving is award, Keith commented: “I am really happy and surprised to be nominated and receive the silver award.”
