On Saturday 25 January, 11-3pm, Saltram House, Park and Garden is hosting a Volunteering Open Day where anyone can drop in and learn more about what goes on behind the scenes day-to-day as well as find out about the opportunities available to work with the team anywhere on the estate.

Saltram, situated on the edge of Plymouth, is supported by a large volunteering team who do a number of varied and interesting roles. Within the house volunteers help bring the story of Saltram to life: tour guides take visitors behind closed doors while room guides fuel visitors’ interest in the collection of precious paintings, wallpaper and books. Volunteer gardeners graft amongst hidden follies while Park Wardens get out and manage the countryside. Saltram even has volunteers that support the shop, café, and office.

On Saturday, staff and volunteers will be stationed around the property to tell you more about what they do and just how you might get involved. The many opportunities are appealing to those looking for work experience, those seeking a change in career, or those wanting a new challenge for the New Year.

Fiona Macmillan, Visitor Experience Manager, commented: ‘Now that we are well into the New Year, we want to encourage our community to come and volunteer with us. It is such a great opportunity to take on a new challenge or top up your skills and experience’.
