Met Office warns of possible isolated thunderstorms and torrential downpours

The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for the South West today with localised thunderstorms and torrential downpours possible (Friday 7 June).

A 'yellow warning' of rain has been issued and the Met Office say: "The public should be aware of the risk of some disruption to transport through standing water.

"There is a risk of an isolated thunderstorm developing today. Where this happens, there is the potential for some very heavy rain, but most places should miss these."

However the wider forecast for today and the weekend is for dry, warm and sunny weather with light rain predicted overnight tonight in Plymouth. More unsettled, cooler weather is forecast for next week.
