Last chance to see major ceramic show at City Museum and Art Gallery

Time is running out to see an exhibition of work by one of the UK’s most significant ceramic artists, currently on display at the City Museum and Art Gallery.

‘Gordon Baldwin: Objects for a Landscape’ is on a national tour from York Museums Trust and includes 100 ceramic works alongside related photographs, drawings and collage.

The works have all been produced by Gordon Baldwin OBE, considered to be the country’s most distinguished ceramic sculptor.

Baldwin, who is now in his 80s, has been highly influential throughout his career - both as an artist and a teacher. Over the years he has enabled ceramics to be seen as sculptural forms as well as functional objects.

The exhibition includes works that have rarely been on public display as well as some of his most significant pieces. A small display in the Museum’s foyer also gives an insight into some of his earliest influences.

The exhibition is open from 10am to 5.30pm Tuesday to Friday and 10am to 5pm on Saturdays. It will remain on display until Saturday 11 May.
