Staff at Dogs Trust Ilfracombe are searching for a dog lover who has space on their sofa for one of their longer term residents whose favourite pastime is to watch the world go by on his favourite bench.

Previously a stray, eight-year-old crossbreed, Zane, arrived at the West Down-based rehoming centre in November last year, and loves nothing more than sniffing out his favourite spot – the bench outside the entrance to rehoming centre - where he sits with a canine carer or volunteer and waits for his special someone to come along and offer him a seat in their home.

Rogan Quinn, Rehoming Centre Assistant Manager at Dogs Trust Ilfracombe, says:
“Zane is such a wonderful dog, we can’t understand why he has been overlooked for so long. As soon as his carers get him out for a walk, he leads them to his bench and he just enjoys sitting there everyday, watching the world go by and waiting for his new owners to come down the driveway. Sadly it has been a long wait for him.

“Now that he’s seen the six month anniversary of his time with us come and go, we are really hoping that he won’t have to wait on his own much longer.”

The team say Zane is a true gent – friendly, easy going and loves a fuss. He travels really well in the car and loves to go offsite for walks on the beach.

Rogan continues:
“We’re hoping that very soon he’ll exchange his bench for a sofa so that he can finally sit alongside his forever family.

“He is a really lovely boy who would thrive at the heart of a family and can live with children aged over 11, but would prefer to be the only pet in the home. He is very affectionate and will definitely enjoy family life after such a long wait for his very own special someone.”

If you think you could offer Zane the home he is longing for, please call 0300 303 0292 or visit Dogs Trust Ilfracombe at Hazeldene, West Down, EX34 8NU.
