On Tuesday 20th October, an awards ceremony was held at Derriford Health and Leisure Centre for the Health Care Assistants (HCAs) who have completed either a Level 2 (L2) or Level 3 (L3) Diploma in Progression Award.

Nicky Mitchell and Lyndsey Box, HCA L2 course tutors, were delighted to host the event to applaud all of the HCAs for their fantastic achievements and reflect upon the great contribution that they make throughout all areas of the hospital, providing a large proportion of patient care under supervision from Registered Practitioners.

Following this, Beverley Allingham, Deputy Director of Nursing, awarded the much deserved certificates and badges to the HCAs.

Lyndsey said: “The Diploma L3 programme is a 12 month course, delivered in partnership with Somerset College and the L2 programme is a six month course that is delivered within Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust.

“Nicky and I are very proud of the work undertaken, the achievements made and the way that the HCAs have taken the knowledge and skills learnt into the workplace, to deliver compassionate, high quality and safe care.

“It is lovely to see the journey that they have made, from the start of the course to completion and to watch them grow in confidence and knowledge, which they have been able to use in their own areas, therefore growing the individual, the area and Trust, to be a safer place to be cared for.”
