Luke Pollard, MP for Plymouth Sutton and Devonport, will be holding the next two events in his Brexit Summit series this Saturday at City College Plymouth.

The Plymouth People's and Young People's Brexit Summits were one of Luke Pollard MP’s key campaign pledges during the election and are designed as a chance for the people of Plymouth to have their say on what a good deal for our city looks like.

The Plymouth Brexit Summits are cross-party, non-political and will feature a mix of speakers and group discussion including George Cowcher, Chief Executive of the Plymouth and Devon Chamber of Commerce, Clare Moody MEP and Councillor Tudor Evans OBE. The summits will give people and young people a chance to input into the Plymouth Brexit Asks and identify the issues most important to them.

The Young People’s Brexit Summit is being held on the morning of Saturday 11 November for young people aged 13 and 25 and the afternoon will be open to anyone from the public to have their say.

Luke Pollard, the Member of Parliament for Plymouth Sutton and Devonport, said:
“I have always called for government to listen to young people more and, on Brexit, that call is more important now than ever. Brexit will have a profound effect on the lives of young people in Plymouth, and it is only right that they get their say on what our city’s MPs are fighting for during the negotiations.”

“Brexit is the biggest challenge facing Plymouth and it is vital that our city gets a good Brexit deal that helps not harms our city. The detail of any deal really matters. To get a clear set of asks that we want as a city we need to hear from as broad a range of people as possible. I promised to deliver a Brexit Summit, where the people of Plymouth get to have their say on what a good deal for Plymouth looks like, and these two events in Brexit Summit series delivers on that promise.

“This isn’t about repeating the referendum – that happened last year. These events are about setting out clearly what our city’s position on the detail of Brexit should be and how we get a deal that helps Plymouth not harms Plymouth. With the EU Withdrawal Bill currently going through Parliament this event will arm me with the detail I need to fight for the people of Plymouth in Westminster.”

Clare Moody MEP for the South West and Gibraltar said:
“I’m looking forwarding to speaking at Luke’s second Brexit summit after the success of the first event in August. It’s vital the views of people in Plymouth and the UK as a whole are heard both in Westminster and in Brussels as the debate moves forward. We need analysis and scrutiny of the key issues as we leave the EU and events like Luke’s are the ideal opportunity to do just that.”
