Councillor Tudor Evans has handed over a cheque for £330 to the Ferndale Community computer club as part of Plymouth City Council’s community grant scheme.

Each Councillor has an annual grant allocation of £3,500 to fund community activities and projects in their wards. Councillors can combine their grants to fund one or more projects or various community activities, if they wish. Community grant scheme funds and Living Street funds can also be combined.

Ferndale Community Computer club is run by volunteers attached to the tenants group to help residents and non residents of all ages to use computers, gain qualifications, write CV's or fill in forms online. Computer Training is available to all free of charge.

Councillor Evans said: “It’s really important that we give as many Plymouth residents as possible the chance to improve their on-line skills so the Ferndale Community computer club, who rely on grants and donations really do provide an essential service.

“When I heard that the club’s printer had packed up I was more than happy to give them the money to buy a new Epson Workforce pro printer. The printer is essential for people as they are learning so this was a great way to be able to spend some of my community grant scheme.”
