Police are appealing for information after a man called at an 81-year-old male victim’s home in Northampton Close, Whitleigh, and took his jacket and wallet containing cash.

The man had visited previously when selling some clothing and returned on Wednesday 30 December 2015 between 6.30pm and 6.45pm.

On this occasion the man entered the hallway when the victim answered the door. The victim told him to leave and said he did not want to buy anything.

The victim left the hallway for a moment and when he returned to the hallway, he saw the offender fleeing and noticed his jacket and wallet containing bank cards and cash were missing.

The jacket and wallet were later recovered in a nearby street but around £300 in cash was missing from the wallet.

The offender is described as a white man, in his 40s, of medium build, with dark thinning hair. He was wearing dark trousers and a leather or leather-type jacket. He had a dark rucksack with him. Anyone with information is asked to call 101, or email 101@devonandcornwall.pnn.police.uk, quoting reference CR/089479/15.
