At the end of July Effervescent - the local charity that collaborates with vulnerable children and young people to co-produce creative campaigns - will be moving out of Radiant Gallery in Plymouth.

Since Effervescent took over the space in 2014 and converted it from an abandoned bank into an art gallery, studio space, creative offices and RumpusCosy café they have welcomed thousands of customers, gallery visitors, and young people into the space.

The gallery has shown exhibitions and installations created by local children and young people; some of these shows have gone on to win national awards.

Now, as the charity looks to become more sustainable and help even more children and young people, most of their creative work is made for digital distribution or for stunts in the public realm, or with partners using their venues around the country. They have decided that they can do their best work with young people by working where those young people are, rather than asking them to come to Plymouth.

This also reduces costs so that the charity can help more children and young people.

Effervescent will be working remotely for now and hiring appropriate studio spaces for projects with young people.

Eloïse Malone - Chief Executive, said “We’re sad to be leaving the building as we’ve had some amazing times there, but this is the start of an exciting new phase in our plan to help even more children and young people. We’d like to thank everyone who’s come to a show or bought a cake from RumpusCosy, and huge thanks to all the wonderful people who helped us convert Radiant in the first place.”
