Dogs Trust Ilfracombe seeks home for old age pooch (OAP) in time for the winter

With the weather forecasters predicting a cold snap to arrive in the next few weeks, staff at Dogs Trust Ilfracombe are hoping local dog lovers will come forward to offer an elderly dog a new home in time for Christmas.

Despite his age, ten-year-old Border Collie Cross, Shaggy, is young at heart but he’s a fair-weather dog and whilst he keeps warm snuggling up in his kennel, he’d much rather be in a permanent home of his own ahead of the cold winter months.

He has his paws crossed that his special someone will come forward so he can be in a comfy and cosy home before Christmas.

Elise Watson, Dogs Trust Ilfracombe Rehoming Centre Manger, said: “Shaggy is a gentle, sweet-natured older chap who is looking for a quiet life. He’s enjoying spending time with his kennel mate, but it would be wonderful to hear that he finds his special someone before the winter arrives.

“He does like a fuss and cuddle, but is looking for a gentle, calm, loving home. He could live with other dogs and older, calm teens who will give him the time he needs to settle into his new environment. He would make a wonderful addition to a loving home once he has adjusted.”

If you are interested in rehoming Shaggy, call the rehoming centre directly on 0300 303 0292 or visit at Hazeldene, West Down, Ilfracombe, EX34 8NU.
