RGB Building Supplies recently donated painting accessories to a team of volunteers who brightened up a courtyard belonging to Exeter-based Learn to Live 19-25, an organisation which supports young adults who have learning disabilities, physical difficulties or complex needs.

The group of volunteers, made up of apprentices from Devon County Council’s Leadership Support Team, asked the students from Learn to Live 19-25, which is based at the Ellen Tinkham School, what they would like to see painted on the fence in their courtyard. The students asked for a country field scene, as they enjoy looking at birds and insects on the Learn to Live allotment, and they were thrilled with the final result

The painting accessories were donated by RGB’s Torquay branch. Mike Curtis, Branch Manager, commented:

“What a fantastic job – the mural looks amazing. We are big believers in doing what we can to support groups in our region, so were delighted to donate paint brushes, rollers and trays. We hope the Learn to Live 19-25 students enjoy the mural and that it helps to inspire them to continue enjoy working on their allotment.”

Jo Guest, one of the Leadership Support Team apprentices involved in the transformation, added:

“Learn to Live 19-25 is an amazing charity and we were delighted our employers at Devon County Council allowed us the opportunity to volunteer for the day in order to brighten up their outside space. Many thanks to the team at RGB Torquay for their kind donation.

“There are so many benefits to be had from volunteering, it’s a rare opportunity where everyone wins; from start to finish it has been a great experience. I would thoroughly recommend it.”

Learn to Live 19-25 offers access to learning, living and social opportunities. Further information can found by visiting its website – www.ellentinkham.devon.sch.uk/info/learn-to-live/.
