In support of World Autism Awareness Week, the National Marine Aquarium will be hosting a special ‘quiet’ event.

On Wednesday 1st April, the two hour event will invite visitors to enjoy the Aquarium’s surroundings with as little noise as possible, enabling them to appreciate the true beauty and calmness of the marine environment.

The exclusive evening will cater for people in the autistic spectrum to experience the exhibits in a relaxed and stress-free atmosphere – as well as provide an opportunity to see the amazing sea life at night.

Quiet at the Aquarium is being hosted in support of the National Autistic Society’s World Autism Awareness Week (27th March – 2nd April) – and the Aquarium will also be getting involved in its Onesie Wednesday™ campaign.

Also on Wednesday 1st April, Aquarium-goers are encouraged to show-off their best onesie outfits to support the cause.

Josh McCarty, Head of Marketing at the National Marine Aquarium, commented: “Our Quiet at the Aquarium event offers a unique opportunity for families and anyone in the autistic spectrum to enjoy the Aquarium in a peaceful environment.

"We’ll be keeping our own noise down and encouraging all visitors to be as quiet as possible throughout the event, to create a serene and tranquil atmosphere so their fellow visitors can focus on the beautiful marine life that surrounds them.

"We’re proud to be supporting National Autism Week – and we look forward to welcoming guests from across the region to this unique evening.”

Quiet at the Aquarium will take place on Wednesday 1st April from 5pm-ypm. Tickets cost £5:00 for children, and £6:50 for adults with carers admitted for free.
