It’s the fifth year in a row that a popular summer fair will be held in Frogmore field in Eggbuckland.

The day’s been organised by Eggbuckland Youth Action with support from local organisations, including: the Youth Service, local councillors and Plymfed, they have been able to organise events for the residents of Eggbuckland to help bridge the generation gap and to be able to show the community that the young people in the area are active members of the community and do not want to cause trouble.

The group have been supported by Plymouth City Council youth workers since the formation of the group. The Youth workers have strived to highlight the work of these young people and promote the good work that this partnership has achieved, as well as supporting the young people to achieve their full potential.

Senior youth worker Ben Ozanne said: “The summer fairs have gone from strength to strength and this year the group have received additional funding from the lottery to ensure that this fair will be the best to date. Some of the highlights include; the official opening of the new play park by the Lord Mayor, Cllr Dr John Mahony, local band Joker will be performing and there will be an abundance of local stalls and members of the Youth Service will be bringing along their portable half pipe.”

Cllr Sue McDonald, Cabinet Member for Children, Young People and Public Health said: “The work that Eggbuckland Youth Action have put into organising this summer fun day, shows how a community development approach to work can yield exceptional results. As well as thanking the community, the aim of the day is to celebrate Eggbuckland and all that it has to offer."

The fair will be held on Saturday 11 July from 11am to 5pm on Frogmore field Eggbuckland.
