A COMPANY developing bespoke software solutions for businesses around the globe says it is facing a welcome challenge in keeping up with demand.
Computech IT Services Ltd witnessed a 27% growth in turnover last year and has increased staff from three to 12 in the space of five years. Now the firm, based in Bridge Court, Tamar View, Saltash, is looking to expand further.
The news comes as the firm celebrates another milestone - achieving an internationally recognised quality mark. The company has received ISO 9001:2008 certification for its customisation of bespoke computer management systems.
Garry Thompson, managing director, said: “It is a great achievement. We have seen a 27% expansion in the last year. We had three employees five years ago, have taken on four in the last year and now have twelve.
“Coping with the growth is one of our biggest challenges at the moment. We are trying to take on more people to cope with the workload.”
The company saw a turn over of £330,000 last year (2013/14), growing from £260,000 in 2012/13 and from £197,000 in 2011/12.
Garry said: “We are one of the largest FileMaker developers in this country and probably one of the largest in the world.” FileMaker is a database tool and subsidiary of Apple and has awarded Computech IT Services Ltd numerous awards.
Computech IT Services Ltd has attracted clients around the globe from America, Canada, New Zealand, Singapore and India. Customers include art galleries to New York law firms, aircraft manufacturers to distribution companies, with some of its bigger clients include the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard Medical School.

Garry said: “We originally set out developing only bespoke solutions. Then, during the recession, we decided we needed a product that was more affordable for small to medium sized businesses. We brought together all of the best features of the vertical markets we had previously developed for and put it into one solution. This became our product BusinessMan, which is a full CRM (customer relationship Management) and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system and can be used in a business, of any size.
“Our product covers about 90 per cent of the processes any business would be required to do: Estimates, orders, jobs and invoices for example. Other options include warehouse management, accounting and service management modules. BusinessMan covers all aspects using sophisticated technologies and can be completely customised to mirror any unique business processes for any company.”
Garry set up the company nearly 23 years ago and is still very heavily involved due to his passion and admiration of his product and achievements. Garry said: “The relationship we build with our customers is paramount to us and our philosophy of treating customers the way we expect to be treated ourselves, has been the bedrock for our increase in our business.
Computech IT Services Ltd achieved certification with the assistance of Roger Preston, area manager of ISO management specialists IMSM.
ISO 9001: 2008 is the international standard for QMS and is used by more than one million organisations worldwide
