Questions to ask when planning the ultimate honeymoon

After all of the stress that accompanies planning a wedding, a honeymoon is well-deserved. It’s your opportunity to unwind, bond with your spouse and raise a glass to the road ahead.

Planning the honeymoon, however, can be a tedious task. For this reason, you should sit down with your partner and ask some key questions before planning your romantic getaway. One of the first things to figure out should be your expectations for a dream honeymoon. Seeing as Opodo cracks code to the ultimate honeymoon, you should consider taking a look at the honeymoon destinations they have to get the ball rolling.

What’s My Ideal Honeymoon?

One of the most important questions to ask is what your idea of an ideal honeymoon is to begin with. This varies from person to person, so figuring it out can take you a long way. When considering your ideal honeymoon, you should think about countries you’ve always wanted to visit and sites you’ve been eager to see. If, for instance, you have been dying to see the statue of liberty in New York, then choosing to go there may be ideal especially as the Opodo infographics shows that New York is a preferred honeymoon destination for 29% of people. It is also important that it’s a joint decision and both of you agree on the destination so that it’s a honeymoon that will be memorable. When thinking of the ideal honeymoon, try and think about the type of weather you’d like, what food you want to explore, whether you want to stay in a five-star hotel or enjoy the exclusivity of a hut on the beach front.

How Much Can I Afford?

Affordability is key when planning a honeymoon, so being realistic about your budget is important. Try not to overspend as that could put you in a bad place financially at the early stages of your marriage. Instead, try and think up ways to save money and cut costs. Some things you can do include checking the best time to book flights as this could save you a significant amount. It may also be worth checking price comparison prices, booking with an agent, doing an in-depth search for promotional packages, and checking manually online. When asked their secret to a perfect honeymoon, you should note that 30% of people said being very conscious of your budget is one of them. Remember that you have the rest of your lives together, so overspending isn’t necessary.

How Open Minded Am I willing to be?

Being open-minded when going on your honeymoon could mean the difference between lying on the beach all day and putting on your hiking boots to explore surrounding cities. In light of this, discussing the type of activities you want to do with your partner beforehand could prevent arguments, disagreements, and disappointment. When asked their preferred honeymoon activities, 69% said they’d want to visit the beach, while another 38% said that food would be the motive. In this same study, another 57% of people said the secret to a perfect honeymoon is agreeing with your parent beforehand on the kind of activities that you’d like to do. When you do this, you’re both more likely to be on the same page and will be a step closer to enjoying the ultimate honeymoon.
